MIMYO Rehearsal

The Music in the Mountains Youth Orchestra (MIMYO) is the region’s only youth orchestra and offers the orchestral experience to players in grades 3-12. Under the direction of professional conductors, MIMYO offers one-on-one mentorship, performance experience, and music education. String, woodwind, brass, and percussion players will work on classical repertoire during weekly rehearsals at the Grass Valley Campus of Sierra College; all in a friendly, nurturing environment. MIMYO is a program of Music in the Mountains, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1982. MIMYO is supported by the generosity of donors and community members–people like you!

Schedule for the upcoming Sectional rehearsals. Reminder, they will all take place starting at 6:15 pm at Peace Lutheran Church. Everyone that is not participating in the sectional is welcome to arrive at your normal time, but we ask that you stay in the lobby and keep noise to a minimum until the sectional is complete, which will hopefully be around 6:50 or so. Sopranos & Altos: March 3rd March 17th March 31st Tenors & Basses: March 10th March 24th April 7th

Musings with the Maestro – Mahler

PLEASE NOTE: THE ZOOM LINK TO THIS EVENT WILL BE SENT TO YOUR REGISTERED EMAIL 2-4 DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT. “Gustav Mahler and his Symphony no. 2 ‘Resurrection’” In this lecture we will explore the music of The Symphony No. 2 in C minor by Gustav Mahler, known as the Resurrection Symphony, was written between 1888 and 1894, and first performed in 1895. This symphony was one of Mahler's most popular and successful works during his lifetime. This online educational event will start at 7 PM and will be facilitated via the web conferencing software Zoom, providing participants with an immersive experience combining an informative, live presentation by Maestro Murray with a captivating slideshow.
