MIM’s 21ST Annual Golf Tournament
By Peggy Laird
One hundred golfers enjoyed a beautiful day on Sunday, July 28th at the 21st Annual Swing Along Golf Tournament sponsored by Music in the Mountains Alliance. Once again Lake Wildwood Golf Course hosted the event. There was a lot going on all day; from putting contest, ball drop & hole-in-one challenges to an auction, raffle and awards dinner in the evening.
The broad smiles on the faces of the winning team that was due to their making an eagle on 5 holes and scoring a net 46! For those not familiar with golf terminology, “Eagle” means two under par. Quite an accomplishment. No one drove off in the new Chevy for the Hole in One winner. And several golfers came within inches of winning the $10,000 prize for the 50 foot Put contest.
A big THANK YOU goes out to the team of over 60 volunteers who made this event another success.
The LWW staff of Jim Knight, Golf Pro, Bill Hamilton, Supervisor of Golf Maintenance, Janet Wirkner, Banquet Supervisor, LWW Association and LWW Board of Directors and their staff also deserve a big thank you, as once again they went the extra mile to make sure everything ran smoothly.
The support of our many sponsors, underwriters and donors is very much appreciated. The event was sponsored by Penn Valley Rotary Club, Sierra View Medical Eye and Tri-Counties Bank. Hole in One sponsors were Gold Rush Chevrolet and Nick’s Custom Golf Cart. Abercrombie & Co, together with Mark Strate and Julia Amaral were generous underwriters. In addition there were 40 Tee and Green sponsors and over 70 donations for the raffle and silent auction. Indeed, it” takes a village” to put on an event like this.
This annual tournament is one of MIM Alliance’s major fund raising events. The money brought in goes towards Music in the Mountains’ ongoing concert series and youth musical education programs.
Next year’s tournament is tentatively set for July 27th at Lake Wildwood. We’re already getting golfers wanting to sign up! For more photos and information about this and other MIM events, go to MusicintheMountains.org.
