Benefit Events

There are many opportunities for volunteers at these events. Volunteering is a fun way to get involved with the community and meet new people. If you want to get involved in any of the events, please visit the Volunteer page and check the list of event chairs and telephone numbers. Read more about the volunteer arm of MIM on the Alliance page.

Beer & Wine Pavilion, Home & Garden Show

April 28 & 29

The benefit event year starts with The Union’s Home and Garden Show on April 28 and 29 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.  During this two-day home improvement show, MIMA volunteers work at our beer and wine booth serving beverages and handing out information about Music in the Mountains.

Gala Winery Dinner

June 14

On June 14th, the Alliance kicks off the SummerFest concert season with a Gala Winery Dinner. This year’s dinner will be held in the vineyards of Sierra Starr Winery in Grass Valley. It includes wine tasting, a gourmet dinner, entertainment and a live auction. Auction items include dinners, hosted trips and performances.

Great Giveaway Raffle

During SummerFest

Taking place alongside the SummerFest outdoor concerts in June, the Great Giveaway Raffle awards cash prizes to the winners. Many volunteers are needed to sell raffle tickets and more. Dates are to be announced.

BLT+ Affair (Bridge, Lunch, and Tunes)

June 25

June 25th is our Bridge, Lunch and Tunes (BLT) event. It includes a morning of card and board games (not just Bridge), a luncheon catered by MIMA’s own Men in Black and a musical interlude performed by one of Music in the Mountains’ classical performers. It concludes with a raffle offering many great prizes.

Swing Along Golf Tournament

July 29

In July, golfers get into action at the Swing Along Golf Tournament. The tournament includes 18 holes of golf, a ball drop and a hole-in-one competition. This event takes place at the Lake Wildwood Golf Course and Country Club. Following the golf activities is an awards banquet and raffle. You don’t need to be a golfer to volunteer for this fun event.

Beer & Wine Pavilion, Nevada County Fair

August 8-12

MIMA volunteers staff the Beer and Wine Pavilion each day with multiple shifts per day. This is always a popular spot for fair visitors. Volunteers sell tickets and serve beer and wine for attendees.

Sierra Brewfest

August 25

Following the fair is the Sierra Brewfest on August 25th. Over 40 brewers pour their own micro-brewed beers at this event. The beer is accompanied by delicious food and killer music. Volunteers take tickets, give out glasses and assist the vendors. They also sell raffle tickets for cash prizes for the Great Giveaway #2.

Designs for Living Home Tour

October 6 & 7

Our final fundraising event, and one that requires hundreds of volunteers, is the Designs for Living Home Tour. This Nevada County event will feature six to eight unique and interesting homes. Lunch and a wine bar are available along the tour. Volunteers are docents, serve food and wine, cashier and direct traffic.
