What does it take to win the Music in the Mountains Young Musicians Competition? Practice, practice, practice.
This last weekend, over 60 finalists of the popular competition vied for top honors and a chance to take center stage 2 p.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church. These talented students are sure to astonish and delight audiences with their musicianship, dedication and commitment.
The Young Musicians Competition first took place in 1987. It provides the opportunity for Nevada, Placer, Sutter and Yuba county music students, grades three to 12, to study, memorize and perform classical repertoire for professional teachers and judges. Students can participate in solo as well as ensemble divisions.
All participating students received detailed written critiques from the adjudicators. The winning performances are highlighted in this showcase concert.
