MIMYO December Concert

December 7th, 2017 ~ Thursday, 7:00 PM

Come and see the Music in the Mountains Youth Orchestra’s (MIMYO) December Concert, including the debut performance of MIMYO’s newly-created Intermediate Orchestra.

MIMYO is comprised of young musicians ranging from late elementary through high school age. Officially founded in 2016, the orchestra began with mainly strings, but soon added brass and woodwinds to the mixture. Ably led by conductor Wayland Whitney, MIMYO made its debut to the public at large last December, and played to a packed hall during its Tales from Vienna Woods concert in March and its Carnival of the Animals concert in May.

AmarynGuest Artist Amaryn Olmeda, will once again dazzle the audience with a performance of the first movement of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. The concert will also include excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, Handel’s Messiah, and an orchestration of the Finale from Mendelssohn’s well-known Octet.
