Gardenia Azul is a guitar, voice and percussion trio that performs tropical music with Spanish lyrics. This includes a wide range of songs–from romantic boleros to cha-cha-chas and mambos—that were made popular in Cuba and throughout the islands of the Caribbean Sea and México from the 1940’s through the 1960’s by musicians like Celia Cruz, Beny Moré and Eydie Gorme y Los Panchos.
The three musicians who play and sing in Gardenia Azul are: guitarist Ray Elzey, vocalist Kathy Elzey, and percussionist Cary Avery. Gardenia Azul performs their signature brand of tropical music for weddings, parties, concerts and special events throughout Northern California. Gardenia Azul released their first CD entitled Música Tropical in the year 2000. Their second CD entitled Amar Y Vivir was released in 2007 at The Palms Playhouse in Winters.
